TRANSITIONS – MOSAIC OF INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES
A desire for change? Afraid of transitions? Or what?
With a focus on transitions, we look at the change processes between now and tomorrow, or between the current and desired state.
Whether it's in my body, my family, society, the economy, nature, or globally, processes of change are always and everywhere taking place – transitions from a state that one may have just perceived as unstable or ill, or as stable, to a still unclear state…
Some experience dizziness, others anxiety and uncertainty, while still others feel relief, liberation, or euphoria. One patient reported days of "chaos in her head." All of these are possible signs of incipient coherence transitions, indicating that our brain wants or needs to restructure itself.
Out of fear of the new and uncertain, many cling to the old ways until they fall apart. How can we find the courage to transition into the unpredictable? How can we trust in transitions when we have a goal in mind or at least sense one, but don't yet know the path to get there?
By focusing on transitions and engaging in interdisciplinary exchange about them, we aim to strengthen everyone's competencies for shaping individual and societal change processes. This collaborative competence development is itself a transition, a learning process – perhaps even a sub-process of societal/cultural and global competence development in transitions that are both meaningful and necessary.
At this 1.0 uebergaenge.org symposium from May 5-7, 2017 (the 10th Symposium for Salutogenesis, thus a transition symposium in the double sense), we want to gather and exchange experiences with and perspectives on transitions/transformations. Everyone who wants to participate in this skills development is cordially invited to three interdisciplinary thematic groups (Health as a Transition, Scientific Revolutions, Societal Transitions), possibly also to give short presentations in a 'Speakers' Corner', to participate in lectures and workshops, and more.
The following have agreed to be the main speakers: Ursula Seghezzi (author, coach, 'transformation in natura®'), Prof. Dr. Dr. Helge Peukert (economist) and Prof. Dr. Thilo Hinterberger (physicist, consciousness scientist).
